We know, it can be a bit daunting booking a trip to the Northern Territory - it's all a bit overwhelming. To take the hard part of planning your trip out of the equation, we've put together the ultimate guide to Australia's Top End, all you need to do is book!  


Leg 1: Darwin to Corroboree Houseboats

Distance:       107km
Time:             1 hour, 15 minutes
Stay:              3 nights

A comfortable drive from Darwin, Corroboree Houseboats is the perfect first stop on your NT trip. We don’t want to start with the best first, but we’re telling you now it’ll be hard to top this experience. Situated on the calm waters of Corroboree Billabong, this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. What’s more, this destination is home to some incredible bird life and Australia’s apex predator, the saltwater crocodile.

Choose from a large fleet of vessels, all of which include bedding configurations for a few or a lot, bathrooms, large decks, a self-contained kitchen and decks to spend your days fishing or lazing in the great outdoors.

If you’re not able to spend an extra night, that’s ok. Corroboree Houseboats also offer daily boat hire including fishing boats, BBQ boats and party boats. So, if you’re strapped for time you don’t have to miss out.

*Please note Corroboree Houseboats are only available in the dry season, April – October each year.


Leg 2: Corroboree Houseboats to Breeze Holiday Parks - Mary River

Distance:       43km
Time:             30 minutes
Stay:              2 nights (or more if you’re exploring Kakadu from here!)

Mary River is a place well-known for fishing, croc-spotting, birdwatching, bushwalking and four-wheel driving. Breeze Holiday Parks - Mary River the perfect base for those exploring Kakadu National Park or those wanting a stopover on their way there.

Choose from cabins, powered or unpowered sites for your stay, including our dog-friendly accommodation options. There is a range of facilities including pools, a camp kitchen, laundry, a kiosk, a jumping pillow and a playground for the kids.

Our on-site restaurant is also open all year round providing refreshing beverages and hearty meals. Gecko Restaurant is open for dinner Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm – 8pm and for continental breakfast daily from 8am – 10am.


Leg 3: Breeze Holiday Parks - Mary River to Kakadu National Park (Jabiru)

Distance:       97km
Time:            50 minutes
Stay:             2 nights

There’s not a lot we can say about Kakadu that you haven’t heard already, but, what we can tell you is it’s better than the pictures. It’s better than the stories you’ve heard. It’s a spot you won’t want to miss. 

The national park walks begin just 50 minutes from the holiday park, so you can base yourself at the holiday park or use it as a stopover before staying in Jabiru (141km - 1 hour, 20 minutes).


Leg 4: Kakadu National Park (Jabiru) to BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Katherine

Distance:         306km
Time:              3 hours, 10 minutes
Stay:               3 nights 

After you have made your way through Kakadu National Park, head to Katherine – an iconic destination where the outback meets the tropic. Katherine is home to Nitmiluk National Park, famous for 13 striking gorges carved in sandstone over thousands of years of weather events.   

Stay in a cabin or safari tent or set up camp on a powered or unpowered site at BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Katherine. There is a selection of facilities to make your stay simpler including our camp kitchen, bistro (open seasonally), laundry, and swimming pool and spa to cool down after a big day of exploring. You can also bring your four-legged friends along to stay in our dog-friendly accommodation options.

Insider tip: Many guests book 1-2 nights in Katherine and find they don’t allow enough time to explore all there is to offer – make sure you secure your accommodation early as we often can’t accommodate extra nights during our peak season.


Leg 5: BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks - Katherine to Litchfield National Park

Distance:         280km
Time:              2 hours, 50 minutes
Stay:               1-2 nights

After Katherine, make your way to Litchfield National Park where the landscapes are striking, the waterfalls are flowing, and the lush waterholes are ready to cool you down.

Then, head to Darwin, back to where your NT adventure began.
