The perfect spot for your next exploration, just a short 3-hour drive out of Melbourne you will be able to sip, see and seek your way through the glorious Grampians.

Savour the Grampians

One of the many benefits of the Grampians are the incredible food and beverage options available. The whole region is famous for its offerings and there are plenty of ways to spend your day. Pomonal Estate, located in the Eastern Grampians, is a small family business that features a Winery, Microbrewery, and Cider House. Go there to enjoy a delicious range of craft ciders and regionally produced wines, locally crafted beers and incredible produce sourced from the Grampians region. Not only that, but you can enjoy live music and shop curated local artworks and fresh produce. The estate is the perfect spot to sit back and relax, enjoy a beverage and catch up with family and friends.

In the foothills of Mount William, the Halls Gap Hotel in the perfect spot to take your friends, family and your pup (outside only) for an afternoon drink and a great meal. In the warmer months you can take in the incredible views of the Grampians ranges from the outdoor deck that wraps around the public bar. When it’s feeling a little chilly, head inside and keep warm by the log fires while you enjoy an intimate meal in the bistro, or a pub-style counter meal at the bar so you can sneak a peek at the footy. As an added bonus you can easily watch the kids play in the inside playroom or the playground all from your dining table.

After all is said and done, head back to Breeze, and enjoy a crisp beverage around one of our cosy campfires. Pop a bottle, roast a marshmallow and enjoy some quiet time with family and friends.

From Waterfalls to Wildlife

TLC may have said don’t go chasing waterfalls, but we very much recommend chasing these ones. The Grampians have a wealth of nature right on your doorstep, there is so much to explore for every range of ability. The most iconic of the waterfalls in the Grampians is Mackenzie Falls, a 2km kid-friendly (there are some narrow stairs) hike will get you to the base of the falls. The Mackenzie Falls are one of the largest waterfalls in Victoria, and the only one in the Grampians that flows all year.

Other spots to check out are the Venus Baths (you can take a dip here), hike Mount William the highest peak, take in the view from the Pinnacle or from Boroka Lookout. The most special time to visit the Grampians National Park is in the spring when the whole region comes alive with stunning wildflowers, blankets of colours can be seen for miles.

If you’re a wildlife lover then you don’t have to go far to experience a wide range of iconic Aussie wildlife. Breeze Parks attract the kangaroos, the emus, the echidnas all basically to your doorstep. Further out in the national park it is a bird watchers haven, wedge tail eagles soar in the summer, at the lake’s herons and wood ducks cruise, laughing kookaburras and rainbow lorikeets breeze through. During the warmer months don’t forget to also be snake aware, eastern browns and red bellies are common species found with the national park.

Stories of the Land

Gariwerd (the First Nations name for the Grampians) has a central place in many First Nations ancient stories. The region holds 80% of Victoria’s rock art sites and visitors are able to see six of these cultural sites with their own eyes. The best place to immerse yourself and learn about indigenous history is to head to Brambuk – The National Park and Cultural Centre. Utilise informative commentary, learn about the region and how it connects to the landscapes you are within.
