Cania Gorge National Park

Cania Gorge is filled with stunning hiking trails, towering cliffs, protected gorges, and Aboriginal hand-rock art paintings. There are eight graded walking trails to choose from.

Picnic Area Circuit

Distance: 300m return
Time: 20 minutes
Start: Either end of the Three Moon Picnic Area
Grade: 2

The trails runs along Three Moon Creek, providing views of the famous sandstone cliffs protecting the gorge. 

Dripping Rock and The Overhang

Distance: 3.2km return
Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes
Start: Southern end of the Three Moon Picnic Area
Grade: 3

One of the most popular hikes in the national park, this trail crosses Three Moon Creek through eucalypt woodlands and dry rainforest to Dripping Rock and onto the Overhang. 

Dragon Cave and Bloodwood Cave

Distance: 2.6km return
Time: 1 hour
Start: On the Dripping Rock Track 
Grade: 3

This moderately steep track leads to a cliff face where a side-trail veers north to Dragon Cave. You will be able to spot the natural black picture of a 'dragon'. The southern end of the trail leads to Bloodwood Cave. 

Two-Storey Cave Circuit 

Distance: 1.3km return
Time: 45 minutes
Start: Opposite Three Moon Picnic Area
Grade: 3

Hike up to his breathtaking cave - it's haven for bats and if you're brave enough, you can even venture inside. 

Fern Tree Pool & Giant's Chair Circuit

Distance: 5.6km 
Time: 3 hours
Start: Car park 900m south of Three Moon Picnic Area
Grade: 3

This circuit is best walked in an anti-clockwise direction and crosses Doctor's Gully multiple times before reaching Giant's Chair lookout for magnificent views. 

Big Foot Walk

Distance: 1km return 
Time: 20 minutes
Start: Car park 900m south of Three Moon Picnic Area
Grade: 3

One of the shorter trails in the national park, it features the vision of the large brown four-toed foot on the white sandstone cliff. 

Shamrock Mine Site

Distance: 1.4km
Time: 45 minutes
Start: Northern car park
Grade: 3

This trail meanders along a creek before passing through eucalypt woodland. It is a self-guided walk with plenty of information about the history of Cania Goldfields, at the former Shamrock Gold Mine site. Along the way, you will be able to spot remains of mine shafts, processing sheds, mullock heaps and the old battery. 

Castle Mountain

Distance: 22km return 
Time: 7 to 8 hours
Start: On the Bloodwood Cave track
Grade: 4

This trail is recommended for experienced bushwalkers and provides hikers with two spectacular lookouts - the Cania Gorge Lookout is only 1.5km from the picnic area with views down the gorge and Castle Mountain Lookout is 11km from the picnic area with views over stunning Lake Cania.
