Planning a holiday with your dog doesn’t have to be hard. In fact, with the right park, it’s one of the most rewarding trips you’ll ever take. Breeze Holiday Parks welcomes dogs at five stunning locations across Australia: Busselton, Eildon, Grampians, Halls Gap, and Katherine. Here’s how to make the most of every destination.
Park Rules: What Every Dog Owner Needs to Know
Before you pack the lead and the dog bowl, it helps to understand our pet guidelines. They’re simple, consistent, and designed to keep the park enjoyable for everyone.
- Dogs must be on a lead at all times within the park.
- Communal areas are off-limits- this includes the camp kitchen and amenities block.
- Always clean up after your dog- no exceptions.
- No washing your dog in bathtubs, laundry tubs, pools, or using washing machines for dog related apparel.
- Disruptive or noisy dogs may result in eviction without a refund.
- Look for the dog icon when booking- not all accommodation types are pet-approved.
- Owners assume full liability for their dog’s behaviour and any damage caused.
Pro Tip: Always call ahead to confirm your specific site or cabin is dog-friendly, especially during peak seasons.
Busselton, WA- Beach Days & Coastal Strolls
BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Busselton sits just minutes from Geographe Bay. It’s a perfect base for dogs who love the outdoors.
First stop: the beach. Busselton has clearly marked dog-friendly zones along the coast. West Busselton Beach is a local favourite, with off-leash area between Dolphin Road and the West Beach Access Stairs. Just note that summer restrictions apply from December to February (9am-5pm), so early mornings are your best window.
Next, explore the foreshore. Dogs aren’t permitted on the famous Busselton Jetty itself, but the surrounding foreshore precinct is open for on-lead walks. The bay views are stunning for any time of day.
Finally, find a dog-friendly cafe. Shelter Brewing Co and The Goose near the foreshore are popular choices. Meanwhile, several Margaret River cellar doors also welcome well-behaved pups. A great excuse for an afternoon through wine country.
Eildon, VIC- High Country Trails & River Adventures
BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Eildon sits alongside the beautiful Goulburn River, with the magnificent Lake Eildon just a short drive away. It’s tailor-made for active dogs.
To start, explore the Goulburn River. The river right on your doorstep is perfect for on-lead walks, fishing, and letting your dog splash in the shallows. It’s a peaceful and picturesque base for your mornings.
From there, head out to Lake Eildon. The lake is just a short drive away and well worth the trip. The Delatite Arm Reserve area offers beautiful lake frontage, forest walks, and more spots for a swim. Kayaking and fishing are also on the agenda.
Next, head to Mansfield. This charming country town is close by. It offers dog-friendly cafes, parklands, and a great place to stretch everyone’s legs after a morning on the water.
For a slower afternoon, load up the car and cruise the High Country’s scenic mountain ash forest roads. Wind down the windows, let your dog enjoy the fresh air, and take it at your own pace. For an even slower afternoon stick around the park and utilise our off-leash dog park area.
Halls Gap & The Grampians, VIC- Wine, Wildlife & Walks
Two Breeze parks sit within reach of Victoria’s most dramatic landscape. Breeze Holiday Parks – Halls Gap and Breeze Holiday Parks – Grampians are both fantastic bases for exploring the region.
One important thing to know first– dogs are not permitted inside the Grampians National Park (even on a lead). However, the wider region is wonderfully dog-friendly. If you want to tackle the big national park hikes, local kennels like Plumtree Kennels & Cattery can mind your pup for the day.
Back in Halls Gap, walk your dog along Stoney Creek through the town centre. Kangaroos and emus often wander right through, so keep a firm hold of the lead! Our Breeze Grampians park also has a dedicated on-site dog run for off-leash time.
For something special, head to Great Western and visit Seppelt Wines. The historic underground cellars are worth the trip, and afterwards you can relax on the grass with a cheese platter. Dogs get a water bowl; you get a shiraz. Grampians Olive Co. is another great spot for a coffee on the deck with your pup at your feet.
For a bite to eat, both Livefast Lifestyle Cafe and Salingers in Pomonal welcome dogs at their outdoor tables.
Katherine, NT- Outback Adventure in the Top End
BIG4 Breeze Holiday Parks – Katherine is the gateway to some of Australia’s most awe-inspiring landscapes. It’s rugged, remote, and genuinely unforgettable.
However the NT requires some extra preparation for dog owners. Before you go, speak to your vet about:
- Ehrilichiosis- a tick-borne disease spread by the brown dog tick. It can be fatal. Use a tick prevention collar and check your dog daily.
- Leptospirosis- present in rural areas, particularly during the wet season.
- Crocodiles- keep your dogs away from all waterways. When in doubt, keep them out.
- Cane toads- toxic to dogs, especially active at dawn and dusk.
With those precautions sorted, Katherine delivers. Walk your dog along the Katherine River from the Low Level Crossing, the birdlife at sunrise is extraordinary. There’s also a fully fenced off-leash dog park on Lockheed Road, complete with water, shaded seating, and even dog toys to borrow.
For coffee, Pop Rocket Cafe (above the Katherine Hot Springs) welcomes dogs at its outdoor tables. It’s a local favourite for breakfast and lunch throughout the dry season.
Want to visit Katherine Gorge? Dogs can’t enter Nitmiluk National Park, but Rellams Pet Retreat offers trusted dog-minding just minutes from the park entrance. Book ahead during peak season.
